Taking kids to a café can be risky business. One minute you’re Mary Poppins, with your magic carpet bag of tricks and the next you’re in a scene from Jumunji - you know the one!

Well, pack your favourite Luxey cup - MiniLux, LittleLux or Original Lux; because we have 5 cafés on the Sunshine Coast for ‘takeaway and play’. Pair your energy-giving coffee with an energy-burning play for the littles. If you don’t have kids, don’t switch off just yet. These cafés have amazing coffee and food, so grab your Luxey of choice and play along. 

1. Milk and Bean ~ The one with heart

Milk and bean is a loveable café with a heart for their community, as well as award-winning food and coffee. They are located in Alexandra Headlands and only a short stroll from one of the few full fenced playgrounds on the Coast - Nelson Park. Get your Luxey cup filled with your favourite brew and head over to this all-abilities park. On your way out, you may even want to contribute to the Milk and Beans ‘pay it forward’ program and make someone's day. 

2. Candid ~ The one that's aesthetically charming

This Marcoola gem can provide your coffee and shopping fix all at once. Have a browse through their hand-picked, pre-loved clothing collection while you wait for your coffee to be expertly poured into your Luxey Cup. No, we haven’t forgotten the kiddlets. There is a shaded, grassed area just outside, or gather your tribe to cross over to the Marcoola Reserve playground. It’s quaint but still has big play potential.

3. John Kyle Espresso ~ The one with the view

John Kyle has friendly staff, amazing breakfast menu and coastal views. But you’re not staying today, remember! Pick up your takeaway and wander up to the Buderim Village Park. You won’t be disappointed. It has the ultimate Sunshine Coast views as well as lush, grassy spaces for the kids to run and play. The paths that wrap around the park are perfect for scooters; so grab a seat, sip your coffee slowly and watch the world zip by. 

4. Slide Coffee House ~ The one with the Epic Coffee

Epic coffee inside! Community, sustainability, and love makes this coffee some of the best on the Sunshine Coast. Their Coffee House in Caloundra makes it onto our ‘takeaway and play’ list due to its convenient location. Bulcock Beach and Happy Valley park are both only a short walk away; and with your Luxey Cup and stopper, you will make it there without losing a drop. 

5. Monica’s Café ~ The one in the Hinterland

The Sunshine Coast Hinterland is always worth a visit. Monica’s cafe is known to the locals as the place to go. The decor is outright adorable and your Luxey Cup will fit right in. If you want to see more of the Maleny town you can take a 4-minute walk to Maleny Children’s Playground or Cooke Park is just across the street.
