#CUPDATES | Remaking glass moulds
Hey there,
Another update to keep you informed about your cups!
Last night we got the news that our glass moulding (which we were excited to hear was finished before the start of the Chinese New Year) is, unfortunately not right. There is an imperfection in the mould which essentially means - we simply can’t use it and rather than it being fixed it has to be remade because of the nature of these moulds.
While we don’t have to pay for it to be re-made it does take a long time for these moulds to be made. To give you an idea - this mould is a very large piece of steel, roughly weighing 20 kg. Inside this piece of steel they mould/shape the outline of our cup so then blobs of hot glass can be placed inside, then “blown” then spun to create the actual cup.
The thing with these moulds is there is ZERO room for error. None what so ever. As even the tiniest imperfection will show up on every single cup.
So, as you can imagine hearing this news was incredibly stressful however after processing it last night and this morning it we still just come back to our mission of creating a product that you love rather than something we “nearly” got right.
Andy and I would like to apologise to YOU for this delay, we understand that this NO PERSONS fault it’s just the nature of creating something like this. We thank you for understanding and I want to reiterate that we created this business for you to love for a long time and so if that means a delay in your cups initial arrival to ensure it’s right the first time then that’s what we’ll do.
We estimate now, due to the remaking of our moulds, your cups are still another 4-6 weeks away.
Thank you so much
Love, Sandra-Lea (and Andy) x
